Baylie Maske - Surgery/Vet Tech











Baylie joined the clinic in August of 2022.  She grew up and resides in St Peter.  She graduated in May of 2022 from Murray State University.  She obtained a degree in Veterinary Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture.  She has one dog named Daisy and in her free time she enjoys going to the gym, reading and spending time with her family.

JennieAnn McCall Heischmidt is a 1978 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a St. Elmo native. Her parents owned and operated a grocery and dry goods store and in later years a laundry and dry cleaners in St. Elmo. Dr. Heischmidt opened St. Elmo Pet Clinic on December 31, 1983. She and her husband Mark live in rural St. Elmo with their Golden Retriever, Dolly & a couple of cats.  Their children, Lauren and Blake, are grown.  Dr Heischmidt enjoys travelling and spending time with friends, family and her grandbabies.

​Terri A. Ballman graduated  from Auburn University in 1996. She grew up and attended school in Alabama and then found her way to Effingham where she now resides with her husband Mark (also a veterinarian) and their three children Kendall, Megan, and Angela. The Ballmans have 2 dogs and 2 cats. She has been an associate veterinarian at the clinic since July 1996. She enjoys reading, fishing, and watching her kids play the sports they love. She attends First Baptist Church Effingham where she is very involved with the youth and choir.

Ava Caraway - Surgery/Vet Tech












Ava started working here in 2019.  She has her Associate's Degree in Animal Science and recently graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Chemistry & Biology.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her two dogs, thrift shopping, and gardening.   

Jordan Belden joined our practice as an associate veterinarian in September 2022.  She grew up in St Elmo and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  She resides in St Elmo with her fiance Blake and her 2 dogs.  In her spare time she enjoys travelling, spending time with friends, and golfing.

          Cindy Megenhardt-

​Cindy joined the clinic in 2017.  She grew up in Weldon, IL and graduated with a BS in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 2001.  She and her husband have lived in St Elmo since 2010 and enjoy raising their twin daughters and their son in a rural community along with their dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, reptiles and a bunny.  They attend the Table Church in St Elmo.  In her spare time, she enjoys watching the kids in their activities, snuggling her dogs and cats, exploring nature and memory keeping with photos. 

Laney Wilhour - Surgery/Vet Tech











Laney joined us in August 2018.  She graduated from St Elmo High School in 2019 and from SIU-Carbondale in May of 2023 with a degree in Animal Science.  She is the oldest of 4 children.  She has 2 dogs and several cats.  She is a member of the Beecher City Church of Christ.  In her spare time she enjoys cooking, reading, travelling and riding horses.

            Maggie Goodwin - Office Manager











Maggie has been at the clinic since 2003.  She lives north of St Elmo with her husband Bill and 2 children - Lane and Kennedy.  They raise horses and are very involved in rodeos.  In their spare time they love to travel, especially to places they can trail ride & camp.

          Michelle Miller - Surgery/Vet Tech











​Michelle  lives in Herrick , IL with her two sons, Weston and Jaxon.  They have 1 dog, several cats and don't be surprised if you see rabbits or a chicken running around.  Michelle graduated from USCI with a certificate in Animal Care Specialty. She began working at St. Elmo Pet Clinic in March of 2015. She enjoys travelling, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her boys.
